PYGMALION'S PEDESTAL

Cozy Cottage #2

Dreary Spare Room - Before

For most people, it would probably be difficult to appreciate the beauty of this room by looking at this photo, which may even trigger negative emotions. At first glance, it appears dark and dreary, and smaller than it actually is. This is why photos like these tend to detract potential buyers to a property. Buyers deserve to see a space in its best light.

Project Details

A successful fusion of old and new brings inspiration to the dining room where an antique Hoosier cabinet (pictured down below), used as a bar cart, flanks the end of the long wooden table with its chrome legs – a find from South Florida’s “Decorator’s Row” in the 1970s that has stood the test of time. Meanwhile, the six green chairs with chrome legs naturally coordinate with the backdrop of tropical foliage outside. A simple bench, topped with a neutral cushion from West Elm, is not only functional but provides symmetry, making it another focal point from the entry way.

Repurposing Antique Cabinet

From the fabulous 30’s, this golden oak Hoosier Cabinet with its slag glass panes and porcelain pull out counter top serves multiple purposes as a bar and china cabinet.

Vintage Charm

A vintage papasan chair situated at the other end of the dining room table is also cozy place to relax with a cup of tea and read magazines.

The fresh floral arrangement brings a sense of balance to the corner, making it another focal point of the spacious room.
